We returned to Donington Park and this time raced on the slightly shorter National circuit layout for this bank holiday event.
Practice and Qualifying – Monday 29th August 2022
A decent start practice session with a fastest lap time of 1:10.997 which was good enough for P3 and only 0.172 off Jess Hawkins in P1.
Some steady laps were put in, the weather was warm but looked changable so it was all eyes on qualifying to see if more points could be picked up.
Qualifying started off nicely with a pretty quick provisional pole lap early on, we had to settle for second place though with a fastest lap of 1:10.109 with Adam Shepherd putting in a blistering lap and breaking the TCR UK average speed record. With the top eight cars being separated by one second we knew the racing would be competitive.

A good steady race considering there was a steering issue which developed early in the race. Starting second and remaining competitive with a solid drive. At one point Chris was in fourth but drove very well to keep good defensive lines and hold off any attacks.
With only a couple of laps left to go, Hart had to retire which meant a valuable place and points were gained giving Chris third place and a podium finish.
With the reverse grid for the second race of the day the third place finish means we start P8.

Donington Park – Race 2 (Round 13)

The team were confident about the second race of the day and like the earlier race, a good steady drive and some points were the target. Despite a minor steering issue in the first race, Chris was confident he could do well and was looking to push for a podium.
Chris is a good starter and often makes up places, a P8 meant the places were available however, the traffic could be an issue into the first corner.
Despite a good start and keeping out of the line of the cars in front Chris was hit from behind and took rear suspension damage at the end of the start straight as they went into the turn.
No lap time recorded as Chris hobbled round to the pits to retire.
Summary
With only one event left to go we are tied in first place for the championship. Chris has driven amazingly well thus far and shown his class with quick drives and experienced decisions on track.
We had hoped for more points from Donington however, this makes for an extremely exciting final event of the season as we prepare for Snetterton 200 on the 23rd October.
