Scott Sumpton #27

Scott Sumpton started motor racing in 2015 at 10 years old. Scott competed in various club events around the UK and in the British Kart Championship, where he proved his talent, racing against more experienced driver

When Scott turned 13, he took the step up into the highly competitive Junior X30 Series. Once again, he took part in various club rounds across the UK, picking up podiums and wins along the way. He also took part in the Benelux Series, which took place in Belgium and France. Here Scott was fighting at the front and a podium finish was well deserved.

2020 was when Scott took the step up from karts to cars, competing in the Junior Saloon Car Championship. Unfortunately, owing to COVID-19, the season got off to a slow start due to not being able to test in the vehicle prior to racing and he had to learn the car whilst competing throughout the year. A positive change happened during 2021 when Scott changed teams for the last three races of the year. This is when he found leaps and bounds of time on the track and was fighting at the front.

In 2021, Scott also sat his GCSE exams. He excelled and passed all the subjects that he tk. With great grades in the bag, he was then given the opportunity to join the Motorsport UK Academy Enhanced Diploma in Sporting Excellence Programme. This was an opportunity he could not say no to. There is a competitive selection process to get onto the course and Scott is proud to say that he is 1 of only 20 who got accepted. The course is tailor-made to improve driving performance and help turn drivers with potentional into professional sporting athletes. The extensive course includes monthly visits to Izone Driver Performance, based at Silverstone, which is run by 3x World Touring Car Champion, Andy Priaulx. In the past, the DiSE course has brought on top drivers like Lando Norris and George Russell to name just two.

At the end of 2021 Scott was lucky enough to test various cars to see what he wanted to progress into. One of these cars was the Audi RS 3 TCR car at Donington Park and this is what blew him away! Therefore, after talking to various teams, Scott was accepted into Essex and Kent and was happy to have drove the Hyundai i30 N TCR car within his first season. He picked up some good results and showed his pace within the car.

2023 Scott Joins Restart and has all ready starting his testing plan with 3 test out in his new Honda Civic FK7 from Jas Motorsport. Scott has now settled in and enjoying the car and team.
