The FREE Wildlife Connections Festival is Chester Zoo’s annual celebration of British nature, also featuring live music and an array of hands on activities for families.
BAFTA award-winning TV presenter Moate – who hosts CBeebies hit show, ‘Did You Know?’, and also features on BBC Springwatch’s ‘Wild Academy’ – will bring her celebrated live performance to the zoo, on day two of the weekend festival.
Through a show that’s packed with British wildlife stories, quizzes and fun tips, Moate specialises in inspiring curiosity and wonder in younger audiences.
The festival, now in its fourth year, runs from 12 – 5 pm on Saturday 14 – Sunday 15 September at the zoo’s free-to-access Nature Reserve.
Conservationists are inviting families to drop-in any time across the two days of the festival to enjoy the wide range of entertainment.
Visitors will be able to make their own slug slime, become mammal detectives, or learn practical tips on how to attract birds into gardens.
Iona Cowell, Wildlife Connections Project Officer at Chester Zoo, said:
“In the last 50 years, the UK has lost more than half of its biodiversity. So we want to throw a spotlight on our British wildlife, celebrate our most wonderful creatures, and inspire families to take action – with two days live music and fun activities.
“Head over to our Actions Arena to find out about the bizarre adaptations of some of our smallest creatures. Help us celebrate them by making your very own slithery-slug-slime. Or help out our feathery friends by creating your very own bird feeder; just hang it up in your garden when you get home.
“Then on Sunday afternoon, join us to meet the star of the show, Maddie Moate – and get inspired by the incredible animals all around us.
“Just turn up and join in the fun!”
The festival is part of the zoo’s ongoing Wildlife Connections conservation campaign, which aims to help the British public create more wildlife-friendly spaces for threatened species.
