The Microsoft Teams Interoperability Licence

2020 has brought the need for new ways of working, and Microsoft Teams has swept through the NHS, providing a platform for Trusts to hold their meetings virtually. The adoption of collaboration technology has been a steep learning curve for all, but one that overall seems to have been adopted more than most other technologies in the past. As organisations now try to use this platform with dispersed teams spread across remote locations and the meeting spaces in Trusts and CCG’s, it has highlighted an issue and left these users with a dilemma.

What about the current equipment in our meeting rooms?
MDT and Meeting rooms mostly still have a different technology which, on the surface, is not compatible with Microsoft Teams as they use what is known as “standards based” protocols, whereas Microsoft use a proprietary protocol. This means if the organisation wants to use Microsoft Teams across their existing endpoint estate, action needs to be taken to ensure these devices are compatible with Teams.

So, what can we do?
There is the obvious option of replacing the kit in the room, however this is not the easiest route to take and these devices may have only just been purchased and may work extremely well in all other scenarios but just aren’t compatible with Teams. If this is the option you want to take, we can guide you through this process and design and install a solution fit for purpose. However, we think there’s a better option.

The Medio.link Teams Interoperability Licence
The medio.link Teams Interoperability licence allows you to keep the devices already in place and continue to use the kit as you always have, with the added feature of being able to dial into a scheduled Teams call with full voice, video and content sharing capabilities. With this licence, you can turn any MDT or meeting room into a Teams compatible room.
Once you have the licence, all you need to do is schedule your meeting using Teams, and medio will allow your non-Teams device to join the Teams meeting. You can even add a join button on the device at the start of the call to further simplify the experience for users. With medio.link you will be able to communicate with whoever, wherever without ever needing to worry what platform or device that person is using.

How Critical is your MDT?

Involve has been delivering MDT rooms for both private healthcare and NHS for 10 years, and in that time plenty of lessons have been learned. Lessons that can be summarised as follows in this article.
Knowing everything there is to know about technology is not even half of the story. Understanding the use cases (yes, there are more than one), the devices and the users is key to a successful MDT delivery. However, the journey does not stop at delivery. It is critical that the MDT room(s) are designed properly, using tried and trusted technology that will last 5+ years and still interface when IT change the profile of computer hardware. So, Involve design every MDT with the user needs and our own extensive experience at the heart of everything we do. Does it all end with great design and installation though? No!
Supporting Your MDT
MDT downtime should be kept to an absolute minimum and we understand that. Involve Assist for MDT’s delivers a full service wrap from a secure UK Network Operation Centre (NoC) all with dedicated Account Management and Service Delivery Managers.

We are proud to have installed and continuously support dozens of MDT’s across the country. However, our service is not limited to Involve clients only!
If your MDT is unsupported and you would like an independent proposal for the provision of a full maintenance contract for your room, let us know. Simply click here to realise the following benefits…
Involve teams are ready to deliver a no obligation proposal to support your MDT room for any term ranging between 1 & 5 years.
In order to take your MDT into Service Day 1 we would ensure all equipment and connections are fully functional via audit and surveys.

Additional Benefits
A successful MDT meeting is not limited to local users and information. Connecting users virtually via video conference from other NHS networks and remote locations (home working for example), should be done easily and securely. Medio.Link provides not only user connections but also (MDT) room connections that will register to the N3 / HSCN video network, allow for native dialling and extra features such as remote management and address book control.

Supporting our cloud customers with free training sessions

When the COVID 19 Pandemic started, I became quickly aware that many of our “enquiries” were from users who may have had our services but only used them occasionally and suddenly needed to become super users.  This created an immediate need and one that I felt should be delivered as standard. Therefore, I presented the idea of a free training program consisting of a 30-minute session to demonstrate the use of our services and answer any queries. The program will be available to all our customers who need a little boost in adapting to the transition into a virtual workplace.
The Challenge
I was interested in moving a step further from Customer Experience more towards User Experience, I wanted Involve to be capable of supporting every user of Involve Cloud, but in an intuitive yet friendly and personal manner. By allowing customers to book their 30-minute session with a REAL human, Involve can assist their customers in building key virtual skills, including setting up and managing their virtual meetings. This session will provide a good opportunity for customers to watch a demonstration and have their queries answered instantly, all from the comfort of their own home.
Support from Involve
Having presented the idea to my line managers, the idea was very well received, tested and is now ready to go. Clients can book their free 30-minute sessions from the booking portal, at least 12 hours prior to their desired time.
My Promise to You
A bespoke Q&A or FAQ type session helping you to get the most out of our services.
A demonstration of key aspects of our Involve Cloud service
Your questions and concerns acknowledged, and addressed appropriately
A friendly and informative session, delivered by a real human (not bot!)
To book your training session, please click here.
