Hanging Baskets The futility in the face of our current climate in trying to maintain the beauty of our gardens.

supermarket numberplate recognition
Went to the local ASDA store today. Its got one of those numberplate recognition devices on the disabled parking bay. Some careless driver had nearly knocked it over so of course it was disabled which I thought rather appropriate.Anyhow I straightened it up and called through the speaker no reply but the barrier magically opened which I thought a bit odd since the post was nearly out of the ground.Could be a wireless connection I suppose such things are everywhere nowadays connected to cameras there is no privacy anywhere. The Big Brother (not that boring TV show) prediction has come true with a vengeance.Youre not even safe in the privacy of your own home nowadays with cameras built into computers and tvs and the  ridiculous feeding frenzy of the media ever eager for the latest sensational disclosure.

Inclement weather
Yet another cloudy wet and windy day in the suntrap of the south just like last year which was enough to discourage even the keenest gardener. Is the planet trying to tell us something I wonder.Perhaps that we cannot combat the forces of nature however clever we think we are.Planned the planting as usual plants are on order compost turned and materials bought as usual just need a few fine days of warmer weather like April last year and I will be able to do the work.Have to do something about that fence though blown down in the gales last week and the pool needs cleaning and replanting. Then theres the brick pillar pushed over by the vandals. As fast as I put things right nature including human nature intervenes to thwart my efforts.Feel like giving up and paving it all over like the neighbours but it is important to keep our trees and greenspaces if only for their beauty but everyone round here doesnt appear to share my views. They just carry on without realising the urgency of the situation.Used to be a quiet neighbourhood but more and more cars now.Bigger and better instead of smaller and economical seems to be the watchword wherever I look.Am I the only one who is trying to conserve energy and save the planet?
