Gemma Jimmison The Race for Life - all about my dieting, training and fundraising efforts.

Thank-you
Well I did it. I managed to get round the course. I didn't manage to lose any weight, I did no training in the two months before the  race and I had a massive hangover from my birthday celebrations the day before but I don't care. I managed to raise £256 for Cancer Research, a fantastic charity that tries to find cures for one of the worst diseases I can think of. Thank-you to everybody who sponsored me.

Slight success
Despite a weekend away in Essex I managed to lose 1.5lbs this week. It probably helped that I didn't eat much lunch on Tuesday but I had been worried that I would have put weight on again - anybody who actually reads this blog may have noticed it's not been updated in a while - after drinking copious amounts of lager and eating fajitas, ice cream and chow mein all weekend.
I guess all the walking (we went on a shopping spree and along the beach at Southend) did the trick, as did having enough willpower not to have kebabs and burgers after the nights out.
I've also dug out my sponsor form and will be badgering people for money this week and I'm planning to stop off the alcohol (at least I was until I remembered the Bank holiday weekend!) and get some all-important exercise done.
Watch out for next week's update.

A good weekend
It's been a good weekend for my diet. I'm now into my sixth day of being teetotal and I'm quite impressed with myself - and very surprised that I havn't succumbed to temptation. I've decided I quite like not drinking as I've spent less than a tenner all weekend and I haven't drunkenly eaten any kebabs or burgers.
I've also managed to get myself to the gym on Thursday night and on Sunday while John went to watch football. And, apart from some chocolate, I've had a very healthy week food wise. If I don't lose any weight on Tuesday I will scream!

Back on track.
I lost THREE lbs last night, yippee! I have been really good over Easter and didn't even eat any eggs. I had been unsure whether I would have lost much this week as we went to Blackpool on Bank holiday Monday and I ate fish and chips. However, the extra long walk down the sea front, up the pier, around the pleasure beach and back again must have done the trick! That's about the only exercise I did though so I'm goin to make much more of an effort this week. I'm a lot more focussed now and I'm thinking about cutting out alcohol completely. Although I'm only thinking about it at this stage! And it can only be until April 13 because we are going away for a long weekend so that my hubby can do the racing/driving day that I bought him for Christmas. There's still a long way to go and just over two months to get there but I'm definitely feeling more confident now. I also have the added incentive of needing a fabulous beach body for our holiday to the Dominican Republic in August. Watch this space.

Oh dear
Horrific. And that's all I'm going to say about last night's Weightwatchers meeting.

Uh-oh
Well, I am absolutely dreading going to weightwatchers tonight. I don't think I could have had a worse week - I've eaten fish and chips, Macdonalds, sweets, cake and takeaways. I think I am confused as to what a diet is actually supposed to mean. And as for exercise - what's that? I haven't even got any more sponsorship this week because I was concentrating on fundraising for a charity abseil that I did on Sunday.
And the worst thing is that after Weightwatchers I have to go to a council meeting.

Kill me now.

Hallelujah
Yippee, I lost 1.5lbs at Weightwatchers last night. Thank God, I was beginning to think it might never happen. And I wasn't too sure it would this week either as I had munched on a lot of chocolate on Sunday.
I had actually put on weight at the previous two meetings so I'm still heavier than I was when I first started writing this blog. Which is annoying since I have been to the gym more in the last four weeks than the combined total of visits in the last four years.
On the good side I do feel a lot fitter and I can now manage the programme designed for me at the gym without feeling like I'm going to collapse and die!
And my sponsorship is now at £159. Only £41 to go. I'm going to try and reach my target in the next two weeks so fingers crossed.
