Liss Parish Council & the skateboard park
Skateboard Park - Liss
I am depressed by the meeting on Friday, held at Liss Village hall, to voice opinions about the proposed skateboard park in Liss. You might think I was depressed at the decision that the Liss Parish council have made, but no, it goes deeper than that.
What I find most depressing, is the way the Parish Council are being seen to be acting. It saddens me that, that night, most people cam away with the conclusion formed, that the Parish Council will do whatever they like, and pay lip service to what residents want. this being formed as a result of the way the parish councilors handled the meeting. it was very poor. It added to my feeling of antipathey towards voting at elections or taking in interest in local governing matters, since it was clear that those that can have power weld it not with the sensitivity of considering those whom they serve.
If the parish council ARE acting lawfully and properly and with the consent of the majority of the villagers of Liss - in spending £70,000 on a skateboard park - then they need to be seen to be acting properly. They need to prove to the parish residents that they have a majority of people who want the skateboard park, they need to prove that this is the best solution to adding to the leisure facilities of Liss, but it is obvious that they can not provide this, by the shifty way they handled questions asked - or not answer them as the case was. Quite a sad state for the country, if those who have the money, and power, still act on their own egos, or alterior motives, but then nothing changes through history of time where money and power are concerned, so why should I expect this be any different?
