Twistywillow My Town

the resturant revolution

Ok so I am going to use this forum for political ramblings and the like. I dont know if it will be classed as offensive or not, we'll have to see.
Top of my list is the news in my town.. I looked at the website and saw the planning permission being truned down for a new resturant because the building doesnt have a chimney! Well good!! Just how many resturants do we need here? There are more restuarnts here than per sq mile in London. You could probably eat out everyday for a month and not eat in the same place twice, probably more than that. Now this is the racist bit.. not one of these new resturants is aimed at local people. They are deliberately aimed at the migrant workforce. How do I know? There are no menus or posters in English anymore. There is one resturant which disscourages locals by having a bloke standing in the door way talking in a language that isnt english to someone inside. That was enough to deter me from going in. I had looked at the menu and wasnt able to read it anyway. What happens next? There are more resturants here than we need, when the migrant bubble bursts what will happen? Just how many Indian takeaways, Tappas bars, Romanian cafes do we need here? Local planning regulations are crazy. Is it bring culture or money into the town? who benefits? Certainly not the locals, the areas are rapidly becoming no go areas for locals.
On the flip side, M&S are doing a huge revamp of its store... oh golly gosh, joy joy. Still atleast that menu is still in English, currently.
Anyone wants to argue? please do.
