An Editor's Life Chorley and Leyland Guardian Editor Chris Maguire updates readers on the highs (and occasional lows)of editing the region's weekly newspaper

Editor's blog is back
At last!!! I can finally banish the biggest ghost in my closet - my lack of blogging.

My blog was launched in 2007 but for technical glitches I've not been able to update it - until now.

Newspapers are increasingly reliant on all forms of social media like Twitter, Facebook, blogs etc and the Chorley and Leyland Guardian is no different.

In future blogs I'll be bringing you up-to-date with the exploits of all my staff.

There's Rob Kelly, our brave Irish sports reporter who has made his 2010 resolution a quest to find a sport he's good at. Any ideas?

Then that our award-winning Natalie Banks, who is cheerful 24/7.

Versatile Karl Holbrook has a reputation for his hard-hitting stories but is also a talented photographer.

The final member of our editorial is Charlotte Wareing - just don't mention potholes! She's just forked out £200 on repairing damage to her car after driving through a pothole.

I couldn't go without mentioning our receptionists Brenda Bartlett and Lisa Makinson.

I'll be making up for lost time with my blogging so if you want to contact me please email on christopher.maguire@lep.co.uk

Virgin territory
Chris Maguire, Editor of the Chorley and Leyland Guardian, has officially entered the world of the blog.
Fairly soon I imagine I'll be going to one of those counselling sessions where I'll stand up in front of a room of similarly afflicted people and say 'my name is Chris Maguire, I am a blogger'.
This is the brave new world and as I dip my toes into it's I can't help but think there's no turning back.
I have no idea if anybody will read this blog. Moreover, I wonder if anyone who reads it, will enjoy it. It's no doubt something I can discuss at the next group counselling session (see above).
By one of background I edit the Chorley Guardian and the Leyland Guardian, both of which hit the streets on a Wednesday.
I've been the editor for just over a year and I'm in charge of a small but dedicted team of journalists.
I'm passionate about news and I'm  passionate about Chorley and Leyland.
We've recently launched a major new cancer campaign called Mary's Prayer (named after Chorley's Mayor, who has cancer) and hope to raise thousands of pounds and a considerable amount of awareness.
The life of a regional newspaper editor is unique. No two days are the same. For instance, I've never done a blog before now.
I'll continue to share my experiences with you. If you want to contact me my email address is christopher.maguire@lep.co.uk
