Cheering crowds
They be anachronisms with no real purpose in the modern world and be seen as quaint relics of a bygone age, but they are a reminder of the dominant position the UK used to hold in the world, and they are a fantastic spectacle to watch, so I joined the crowds in the Town Centre.
But enough about the veteran cars, whats all this about the Queen coming coming to Crawley? :)

Crawley Town
Football really is a funny old game isn't it?
With all the financial uncertainty in the background, not only did Crawley win their first game against newly-relegated Rushden & Diamonds, but then they followed that up by winning away at Woking - a team we only managed to draw against twice last year. Even with the ten-point deduction we are now only four points behind Rushden & Diamonds and Stevenage, and five points behind Halifax.
If thats what we can do in spite of the Majeeds you can only imagine what we could have done without them. Unfortunately it looks like the only choice at the moment is between them or lower league football. They do seem to be on a bit of a charm offensive at the moment which I am sure many supporters will feel is too little and too late.
By this time next week it might be all over for Conference football in Crawley, but before that happens there is the little matter of travelling to Stevenage, a team I would particularly like to see us beat. Lets hope we can do it: if it all goes pear-shaped at least we will have gone out with a bang, but if the club somehow survives it will have all but wiped out the points deduction and stand some chance of staying up. It would be too sad to see the club continue but get relegated this season.

Mela
What about the Mela then?
Great event, but is the Hawth really the right place? It all seems a little crowded there. Would it be better in Southgate playing fields, Goffs Park, Tilgate Park or Broadfield Park?

Welcome
Good to see the crawley Observer dipping its toes into the blogging world.
I doubt if I will write much here - I tend to do more on
my other blog - but you never know.
