Sleep's Dark and Silent Gate. Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonder, where the years have gone, They have all passed under Sleeps Dark and Silent Gate.....

Oh no, it’s back again

Just when we thought it was safe.

Back it comes.

The horrible.

Snow!

Cold.

Wet.

I hate snow.

Walked to work this morning.

After taking my daughter to school.

Took me 50 minutes.

In all.

Was dong all right.

Not too wet.

Until.

An Eastbourne Bus, with the sign.

“Not in Service.”

Decided to drive into some sludge.

And cover me.

Thanks a bunch!

Very funny.

Anyway.

Good news.

Last night.

I lost a further 2lb last night at Slimming World.

So now I’m down to 13st. 9lbs.

Just 9lbs. off my target.

And

A total of…..

3st. 6lbs. in all.

Marvellous.

You can’t beat a classic film.

There was I.

Sunday Evening.

Flicking through the channels.

My wife was upstairs washing her hair.

When on Film 4.

I spotted

“Genevieve.”

With Kenneth More and John Gregson.

What a fantastic movie.

It was one of my parent’s favourites and is one of mine.

I sat and enjoyed every moment.

My wife came downstairs and asked me what I was laughing at.

I told her.

She said “You’re not watching that again!”

“Can’t beat a classic movie.” I told her.

Wonderful.

Two old cars, the London to Brighton Car Run.

Just a magical film.

Wednesday night is Slimming World night.

With my continuing battle against the flab.

And this week.

I lost.

Another……

2 lbs.

Which means in all since last September.

I’ve now lost a total of….

3 stone 4 lbs.

So now only 10 lbs.

To get to 4 stone.

And my target weight.

My 6 year old daughter has been given a special job.

At school.

She is now the.

‘Care Monitor.’

A very important job.

If anyone falls over and injures themselves at lunch or during a break.

It is her job.

To sit with them.

Look after them.

And take them to the teacher or to first aid.

She has a special sticker.

And she has all ready looked after two injured children.

This job is perfect for her.

And she loves it.

It is amazing what a £10 off voucher can do.

Did my usual weekly shop on Friday night.

At my Asda super store.

Newspapers were running a promotion.

Buy ‘The Sun’ for 30p.

Get the voucher.

Which gave me £10 off when I spent over £100.

Great offer.

Great promotion.

Only problem.

Was.

Everyone else in Eastbourne had decided to do the same thing.

It was like a week before Christmas.

I’ve never seen so many people at the check-out.

What a great idea.

Asda was absolutely packed

I went back on Saturday lunch time.

There was even more people.

Nothing like a good offer to get people buying.

Then there was the case of the clock with the wrong time.

Or so my wife thought.

Saturday night.

Fast asleep.

My wife woke me up.

“Darling, What time is it?”

“Uhh, what?”

“What time is it, my clock’s stopped?”

So I fumbled around, found my watch.

“It’s 12 minutes past midnight.”

“Oh,” was the reply.

“Why?”

“Sorry, I thought it was later than that, I thought my clock must have stopped.”

“What time does it say?” I asked, half asleep.

“12.12”

“Ah, the right time.”

I eventually went back to sleep.

Ebley Tyre & Auto Services.

In Courtlands Road.

Fantastic service.

Friday night.

Shopping late night.

I had a puncture.

Could not believe it.

But.

I managed to limp home.

Took it down to Ebley.

They sorted it out there and then.

Puncture repair.

Excellent.

Later that day, the tyre was flat again.

NO.

So I took it back.

It had another hole.

What are the chances of that?

Two holes in a tyre.

Still.

No problem to these lads.

They sorted it out and what’s more they did not charge me.

For the work.

Well done, Ebley.

Great service.

Another great night at Slimming world.

Yesterday.

I reached two important milestones.

Number 1 –

I lost another 1 lb.

Which made 3 stone 2 lbs in total.

And took me below.

14 stone to –

13 stone 13 lbs.

For the first time.

I was well pleased.

Only 13 lbs more to lose to get to my target weight.

Number 2-

My wife bought me a pair of 36 jeans.

I’ve not been in 36 size for at least 10 years.

I got into them no problem.

That means.

That since I started Slimming World in September.

I have gone from size 42 down to size 36.

What a result.

I’m just so pleased with Slimming World.

Secondary school can be such a cruel place.

Even in the best schools.

Kids will have their larks.

Happened to me.

It happens to everyone.

And on Friday it was my 12 year old son’s turn.

Poor lad.

He was playing rugby.

In P.E.

And when he came back to the changing rooms.

Someone.

Had.

Taken his clothes (and his friends) and put them in the shower.

They were drenched.

He had to go around the school in a wet uniform all afternoon.

It must have been bad.

He even rang his mum.

To get a lift home.

He wasn’t happy.

This morning in the car.

He said to me, “Gonna tell my mum that my clothes got put in the shower, to get a lift home.”

I looked at him.

Sternly.

“Well perhaps not,” he said. “Probably ins’t a good idea.”

“No.” I replied.

“Message understood, Dad.”

I think he understood.

I hope he did!

The saga of the flowery Doctor Martens….

A story in two acts.

Act 1.

Saturday afternoon.

Shopping in town.

I’m in Waterstone’s buying a book on Catherine Parr.

My wife is in Monsoon, buying jewellery.

She mentions that Treds have some lovely DM’s

In the sale.

Only £49.99 from £79.99.

A bargain.

But not sure on the money front, if we can afford!

So its back home to check the gold coins!

Hooray!

Have some spare cash.

So tomorrow afternoon it’s back to buy them!

Act 2.

Sunday Afternoon.

Time for the big purchase.

Free parking in the Eastbourne Arndale centre.

Now that’s just the icing on the cake.

My wife’s all excited.

She has wanted flowery DM’s for ages.

Into Treds we go.

There they are!

“Please can we have a pair in size 6?”

“Sorry,” The very nice shop assistant informs us, “That is our last pair, no more in stock.”

NO.

Last pair.

They are only size 3.

What a disappointment.

What a hoot!

Moral of the story –

Check if they have sale items in stock.

First!

It can save you time.

But it was still good fun!

And we bought our eldest a new sweatshirt.
