First Brewfest = Boring
I play world of warcraft, just so you know, in case you haven't read my Warcraft Discussion blog about generally, how some people are obsessed, in game events, addons and other funny stuff. I went to my first Brewfest, and I don't understand why people are so excited about it.

Two days ago, on Tuesday, I logged on, and teleported to Ironforge (from this you can pretty much pick up the fact that my main character is a mage), hopped on my mount and rode outside. After some help from a Nelf DK I found the fest and after getting my Wolpertinger (A rabbit with fangs, antlers and wings) I did some quests. Following the achievments panel I attempted to complete some achievments. A few are dead easy and require no more than handing in a quest. Theres like a giant cog or metal thing on the floor you get a quest from (???) and then hand it in to a Dwarf and you earn an achievment for 'defending' the fest. I didn't even defend anything without knowledge. Basically, after following the Brewfest achievments panel, I attempted to complete, or at least do a part of the food quest and drink quest. I can't remember the names but the food one had 'diet' in it.. might have been 'The Brewfest Diet'. Couldn't complete it because I need 2 more foods, and 3 more beverages because they need a certain level. Me, only 53, need 2 more levels to do at least 1 more food and 1 more beverage, because you are able to use certain foods and drinks at level intervals. Basically, you can start buying proper foods and drinks at level 5, then 15, 25, 35, etc. I did a bunch of quests, like one where you have to borrow a Ram mount from this Dwarf guy and ride to Kharanos, which isn't very far away, although the map makes it look so. The guy gives you reins, you repeatedly click at different speeds to make the Ram go faster, but it gets fatigued. So I dismounted it and rode my own mount which at the time still had Brewfest Hops on it so it looked like a Kodo. You have to ride to Kharanos, pick up a keg, take it back, and repeat two more times. Another 2 quests, from two different families that are obviously rivalling because they both have the exact same quest. The quest is, take his Ram (And I tried this, but for this quest you can't take you're own mount) and using the reins (which after some practice I learned to control easily, and make sure my mount doesn't get fatigued), ride past 4 places, which I can't really remember, but I do know some. Ride past the bank, the hall of mysteries, the hall of explorers and.. I forget the last one. I did one, but I didn't reach the 4th on time. You only get 4 minutes, and I mean seriously, noobs are gonna cry. By noobs, I mean low level new people, which doesn't include alts or twinks. Alts - alternative character, which alot of level 80's do. Twink - once you reach level 80 you can get 'twink' items that are bound to account, not character, like most items, and the level is 1-80, so their stats increase depending on the level of your character.

So, why I describe Brewfest as boring? Because it isn't as interesting as you would expect it to be, it isn't as fun or exciting as people make it out to be. There are hardly any quests - so I have already assumed they are daily, because when I complete one it says 'You can complete only bla bla bla more daily quests today'. Daily quests, you can only do once a day, but are repeatable each day. An example of a daily quest that is very common with level 10's and above (Because when you hit level 10, you can get in your first battleground), so is pretty much common with everyone, because most noobs these days are alts, is a daily quest you can receive from a Dwarf found in the battleground room, who can give you a daily quest for each battleground that you can play. Level 10 - Warsong Gulch. Level 10 - PvP Arena. Level 20 - Arathi Basin. Level 51 - Alterac Valley. Somewhere in the 50's - Wintergrasp. The quest is basically win. If you are a player of WoW, like me, you will know Alterac Valley is impossible for the alliance. We always get out-numbered by the Horde, but now, hahaha, maybe this will help, but yesterday was a patch update 3.2.2, that puts a limit of people on each side to 40, which may help us get across the land easier with less Horde galloping around, but may not help us win in general. In Warsong Gulch, I would say us Alliance win more than the Horde do. For some reason, because the Horde know they will always outnumber us in Alterac Valley, they think 'hey, this'll be a doss, we'll win this' and just walk straight across and attempt at pinching our flag. I always assign myself the same job in every Warsong Gulch battle, and that is, as soon as the gates open and the battle begins, I turn left and go on the roof which has a look down view of the flag room. Horde walks in. I check the level. Summon my water elemental. Use Blizzard and PWN. I jump down and attack. When a member of the opposing side picks up your flag, a horn is sounded and a message pops up in the battleground chat notifying all players the flag has been taken. Forgot to mention, in every battleground, it is a mix of people from different realms/servers, and is cool cos you can do whatever then not worry about seeing them again, except from this one time when I was doing Warsong Gulch over and over so I could get more XP and everytime a new one started this human priest was like 'STOP FOLLOWING ME' cos he was doing pretty much the same, so I just responded, 'look, at the end of the day, we all go to bed, and the likeliness of us seeing each other tomorrow, is unlikely'. Some people are so funny, they take this kind of stuff seriously when they see you over and over, and freak out. Get over it.

Brewfest is boring. I just want my coins, want my pet Elekk, and out. Seriously.

I miss the second week of the All Hallows for halloween cos of my holiday to the US and A. =]

Short speak - Internet Is One Strange Place
If I had a quid for everytime someone said LOL to something completely pointless, or just anything, I'd be rich. So many people speak in short speak its like leet city. Sorry, I meant to say L33T C1TY. L33T is putting numbers instead of letters, just speaking in short speak. Such as LOL, OMG, WTF, ROTFLOL, LMAO, DM, TBH, IDK, IDC, PMSL. I watch Live At The Apollo everyday and once, I think it was Alan Carr, and he mentioned how people say LOL to irrelevant things that aren't funny. Heres an example he gave himself. 'Just went to the shop for some toilet paper, LOL'. I am a dev (developer) on IMVU, but I haven't really submitted many virtual products considering I have no credits, but pretty much most of the users on IMVU speak like this. I will be honest - it does my head in. Do I ever say LOL? Yes, but only at things that are actually funny!! I was in a group chat room a few weeks back and everybody was like 'Look at my hair LOL', or 'Nice dress LOL'. IMVU is short for Instant Messaging Virtual Universe. It is a 3D chat programme where you can meet people, etc. I have met some people, but alot of people can be creepy on it. That is the problem with the 'Chat Now' option. Lots of people will befriend you and try 'butter' you up (you know, make you gullible or something like that) then all of a sudden they say some weird stuff. Weird, often rude and creepy. No, I will not give examples because sometimes they are just.. too rude. There is one example I could mention, that isn't rude, but just generally creepy. I think it was.. um.. at the start of this year, and I was bored, so used the chat-now. I don't really use the chat-now option, but I used it and was randomly put in a chat with a guy who was obviously new. Most new people don't know, lets call it, the 'chat code' in IMVU, and there is just a simple rule. Be friendly, or GET OUT. And we were just chatting, and lots of people also do this, they ask you where you are from, and you answer and its like 'Me too!' - not true. Whenever someone asks me where I am from, if they do that, I check their page. Turns out they live somewhere else. Like a different country. So, basically, it was like, they supposedly live in the same area as me. Then its like 'Meet up with me'. Ahem. NO. Never, ever, ever, ever do that. Even if you do live in the same area, which is 1% chance of it ever happening, never ask them to meet up when you've only known each other for 5 minutes. I checked their page, I think they lived in somewhere like Canada...yeah it was Canada, so I said 'You don't live near me, you live in Canada, dont you?' and its like 'No'. And I'm like 'I just checked your page biatch' - Sorry had to add that, makes it funnier. And then he admitted he lied so I blocked him. And thats not the worst of it. - Back to the short speak/l33t conversation. So many people speak like this, sometimes they use shortspeak I've never even heard of or change their entire sentence into short speak then translate it to their mates through MSN to confuse people. How do I know they translate via MSN? I asked them and they told me in a private chat. Private chat is just an ordinary chat with two people.

The internet is a strange place, so be careful where you step. Lets say.. its like a beach. I dunno, somewhere you can leave footprints. People can track where you go. Really, the government can, or your internet server. When I moved over a year ago, I had no internet for a month or two, so I just played normal computer games, and we had no internet because the area we moved to had a different internet server that weirdly enough you can get a orange T-shirt with the name of the internet server - oh I remember, its the sponsor of the city's football team, and the football T-shirts are orange and black. Eventually, when we got the internet set up, it was on one computer and we had to split our time equally. Between 4 of us, if you don't count my parents. And we got like an hour a day to which I wasn't bothered because before, I used internet quite a bit, and with no internet, after a while I preferred playing ordinary games, so when we got the internet back on I wasn't bothered. So, like I said your internet server knows where you go, and which websites you visit. I was chatting on IMVU and someone told me they once got a warning for looking at porn. What did I do? Leave. No talky to creepies. I know they didn't do anything to moi, but, you know what I mean.

Warcraft Discussion
Warcraft Discussions - Overly Obsessed - In-Game Events - Addons - Funny Extra Stuff

Overly Obsessed

Even though lots of people think it is a stupid game, I always admit to playing World of Warcraft, which almost everyone has heard of. I have played it for almost a year now (Will be on october 9th) and have never come close to an obsession. Most people who play for a year, and become obsessed very much become the highest level possible, which is currently level 80, untill the new expansion Cataclysm will be released, which then will be level 85 (If people choose to buy it). I am currently level 53, and my brother who has had a full working account for the same amount of time as me, is in the 60's (At least level 63, I do know) who plays more than I do, and I do not mention this to him, but I think he is on the brink of obsession.
I titled this 'Overly Obsessed' because of an issue that does annoy me. I'll begin explaining with an example of something that once happened when I was in my level 40's. I was in a group with other people, and we were abouts to run an instance (Run - run through. Instance - in WoW, there are many instances, each different levels, and basically you go in as a group, and can go through and defeat a boss which generally gives you an achievment, apart from some instances which require the defeat of more than one boss), named Zul'Farrak which is basically a big temple area with ruins, mostly populated by trolls (search 'wow troll' on google for an image result if you don't know what they look like) and at the time, two members of the group were my brother and a friend of mine who introduced us to WoW last year. When we were a bit into it, I had to go have a shower so I apologised and clearly stated I had to take some time from a game, to take care of real life. Everyone else was too busy to notice, and I left, quickly handed in a quest which gave me xp (Gain xp to level up, higher the level, more xp needed) and levelled up. People in the group noticed what I had done, but hadn't noticed my message and began ranting at me how I just ran through till I (as people in WoW call it, when you level up..) 'Ding'd, or Ding... I dunno. :) I typed out exactly what I had written in my previous message, and they continued to babble on and rant about it, saying things like 'real life is more important than wow?' and I would say things such as 'its just a GAME' and they would say 'its not a game, its a way of life'. Excuse me? Come again? Life? Ahem, you may have an individual character, but technically you'd only pretend it was real in a roleplaying realm (Game is in various realms - different copies of the game, there are at least 100, and are split into different languages, although my brother did once visit a french realm and found them speaking both english and french. There are also different types of realms, like roleplaying which requires you to pretend it is real life. I once visited one and it was very strange how people spoke with a totally different persona).
Basically, the problem is so many people are so obsessed, that if you are classed as obsessed, people say you have no soul. Not true, but really, being obsessed is stupid! If you, like I am, a watcher of the television show South Park, you may have viewed the episode Make Love Not Warcraft which is about the boys who play the game, and there is a man who goes around killing innocent players and back in Blizzard HQ (The company that design, make, host, etc. the game) say he has no life, no soul, etc. I know that show isn't real but some people are so obsessed, they might as well be sucked into the game forever and go live with King Wrynn or all the gnomes in Dun Morogh or go live in the Undercity with Sylvanas. It isn't just this game that people are obsessed with, loads of people are obsessed with all sorts of games. I only play WoW myself for a few hours every few days then I go practice guitar. =]

If I ever met someone who was obsessed with a game, I would ask them 'What are you doing?'. Then again, WoW is an MMORPG, so I can just tell them on the game.

In-Game Events

Two days ago, BrewFest (A sort of carnival involving beer - hence 'brew') began, which happens once a year. I got my Wolpertinger and I think it is cute. Basically its a sort of cross-breed rabbit that has antlers and other things. Hoping to get a Kodo, or get some BrewFest Hops to transform my mount tonight. Didn't get a chance to go on yesterday but, I'm not the obsessive kind? If I was, which I am not, the result right now would be 'I NEED TO GO ON'. But now I'm thinking about other things. Oh, also, sorry to mention this other WoW-related subjects, but not too long ago was Darkmoon Faire, and for the first time I managed to earn enough tickets to get a minor prize. I spent quite a bit of gold, on getting items out of the auction house, then riding back down to Goldshire, hand in the items, receive my tickets, get the minor prize, a little bag with a bunch of twigs and level 5 shoulder pads inside. This, I was dissapointed, but there is always next month, and enough time to do all I do.

Addons

Also, I recently got QuestHelper. Most useful Addon ever. Seriously, it tells you what to do, and how far you are away from where you need to go. When I installed it, and logged on, I was so chuffed at how brilliant it works, and how useful it was. I received a quest a month or two back, and the quest giver did not give me any details as to where to go just find the pure ooze creatures. I checked over the quest details and description just, if i '..come across any..' thanks alot cow man. No seriously, he was a cow. I'm not kidding. He was a tauren. Didn't make any sense, Taurens are supposed to be my enemies. So basically, I was in Un'Goro Crater (Like a huge swamp with a volcano in the middle) and it just popped up on my map highlighting areas and I did know there were 'ooz' creatures (Like green oozy blob creatures that don't make any logical sense, I mean the gorillas in Stranglethorn Vale do, and the wolves in Elwynn Forest do), but there names did not have PURE in it. So, I killed one, and use this pot thing to fill it with ooz =X Yuck and my quest status increased to 1/10. Yeah, I have to get 10 bottles of ooz. Yuck, who wants ooz? Cow man does. =] I think I currently have 7/10, I'm not sure I don't keep everything written on the inside of my skull. So, basically, QuestHelper is useful. It is complicated how you add it to your game. I am thinking of getting the Cartographer, which fills in all your maps, so you know where places are, but it isnt useful to me - no, my maps aren't all filled in, but I do have an Atlas, Which covers most of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, but I only use it for references for quests. The index provides a list of creatures, so if.. oh damn.. sudden realisation! The index has a list of creatures and a short description of where to find them. I have had my Atlas since about halfway through the summer holidays. Figured out my realisation yet? Oh.. wait.. theres a twist. I'll say it all - I just thought what if I referred to my atlas to find the creatures. Heres the twist - I didn't know the name of the creatures before.

Funny extra stuff

Now, I know I know quite a bit about the game - so it sounds like I am obsessed but obsession is only when you play everyday. And I mean EVERYDAY. Obsession, is when you would rather be running instances, than spending time with family. Obsession, is when you'd rather play the game than concentrate on more important things like education. Heres a story for you, I read on fmylife.com - true story this; A girl told her boyfriend to quit the game, or she would leave him. He said the game made him happier than she did. - Basically, this is not obsession, but the girl was probably less interesting than the game. Now, the game is fun to play, and is good to play in spare time, and it is cool to meet people on the game, and chat about all sorts of things - like I chat to people about television shows, or other things in general, so if the game made him happier than the girl - fair play. Not an obsession technically, because, if one person cannot accept what a friend, or girl/boyfriend does - oh, and I mean games here, I mean you cant accept everything, there is a limit, such as if someone is a creepy stalker or something - then you probably won't be able to stand them in general.

Everyday Things
Everyday is tough for everyone, you have to do all sorts of things such as go to work, or stay at home, probably looking after children, for example. These are everyday things you know you have to live with and even though you probably hate doing the same things everyday, you know this is just life and not everything is easy. Basically, not everybody can live a perfect, easy life, but those who do, as we all know take everything for granted which is a big problem but not everyone is perfect. There are so many things that we know we can't fix just like that. Such as poor LEDC's, and stuck up 'i have everything im better than you' (basically some celebrities) kind of people; but if everybody was just normal, or if we were all the same we wouldn't be unique and individual, and by this I mean personalities and looks. We know, looks aren't everything, but as everybody knows, you can't judge a book by its cover. Lots of people blame poor LEDC's and those kind of things on society but, how do we know? What can we blame everything on? Its all greed, and greed basically is what causes certain areas of the world to be richer than others, because as they say money doesn't grow on trees (Yet, phsyically, they do, if it is made from paper, where does the paper come from? - I heard this fact from someone on the internet, which is technically half true, apart from the fact the money itself isn't grown on a tree but the paper is simply printed to become money). Greed, results in some areas of the world not having any money, and no money means, well, how can they make more money with very little? Alot of people agree that, it is the leaders of all the countries (the united nations) that should fix this. If they are the leader of their country, they have all the money right? Some people think, if people like them (including celebrities, or millionaires, or some people even think the worlds richest people should...) have so much money they should fix it. Well, not everything can be fixed, and we can't look upto them to fix it. We should fix all the problems, right? Its our responsibility because it is us, who keep the problems up, and don't deny it, but relatives from the past are the ones who started it all. Really, who should fix it? Or should we leave it? What should we do? Its our decision on what we do, because what we do, as the MEDC's is entirely up to us, and if we want to do something to better the world we should. It isn't upto anybody specifically, it is up to everyone, to what they choose to do with their life, and some people think "I'm one person, and if I do one little thing, how would it better lesser fortunates?".

Everybody thinks about this at least once in their life, everybody knows all this, but everybody knows that it is our responsibility, and if you don't think about this, its important you do.
