Mobility Scooter nightmare!
Ever thought of visiting Le Mans for the 24 hour race?
Don't bother, come to Goole and enjoy mobility scooter racing at it's best!!
Wherever you are in Goole you'll be plagued by the scooter menaces, either on road or pavement. And don't ever think you have the right of way on either thoroughfare, cos you'll get an irate toot toot from the user.
I wish these people would appreciate that the drop curbs put at the end of road junctions are there to facilitate disabled people, wheelchair users and mobility scooters....they are not a public crossing, and thus the car still takes precedent.
Take the other day. I pulled up at the end of Second Avenue in Goole, wanting to make a right hand turn in my car onto Pasture Road. Of couse as is usual I had to wait for a gap in the traffic. As I waited patiently, an old guy on his mobility scooter drove down the drop curb and up to the side of my car where he started toot tooting.
Well, I wound my window down and asked him ever so politely what his problem was. I was met with such a tirade of abuse...let's just say nothing is printable here. If the old uns are coming out with language like that, what hope for the young uns!
I didn't move out of the way for him, as he had forcibly asked me to do, but he drove around the back of me! I hope he felt better for his little outburst!
What are the legalities of these motorized menaces? Do they need to have a road tax or insurance? I don't know!
Some years ago, two wheeled electric scooters for youngsters were all the rage in Goole. Whithin 6 months the Police had forced them off the road at risk of confiscation. What's the difference between mobility scooters or the two wheeled scooters that the Police don't like? I reckon that if Goole's youngsters started driving around on mobility scooters, the law would be rapidly changed!
And the speed of the mobility is at times phenomenal. I have witnessed several older people charging around Goole at such speed as to put shame on Lewis Hamilton's Formula 1 antics. Are tuning kits available? Maybe we now have go faster turbo-charged versions? I reckon it's time for shin pads in Goole to protect against the onslaught.
More sleepless nights as I dream of being chased by a posse of mobility scooter users....what a nightmare!!!!

Why I hate dog ( owners) part 2
West Park Goole. Did you know it's the exclusive preserve of the dog walking fraternity? I spent an hour there the other day, and couldn't believe the amount of dogs turning up.....every colour and size imaginable...and most off the lead.
Maybe our dog loving friends may ask how I had the audacity to trespass on their property if I am anti-dog, for they seem to think dog walking in the park is their god given right! Well, just to set the record straight, I am not anti-dog....I am anti-irresponsible dog owner!
Take for example my visit to West Park. I was there with my grandson to do a spot of kite flying, or at least trying to with the dogs continuously sniffing round us, their owners trying to understand why we wern't paying their beloved pooches any attention. Well, as I was watching, one of the dogs decided to do it's toilet in front of me! (I am continuously bemused how dog owners seem to pay a particular interest in this!).
Anyway the owner did the right thing, produced a plastic bag, and scooped up the mess. Away he walked with his dog and when he thought no one was looking, chucked the bag and contents under a bush! On investigation, I found about twenty bags under that one bush!!
Maybe in a few years time, a dog mess bush may sprout! Think of the wonderful fragrance from that! When I returned home after my failed attempt at kite flying (no wind), I struck up a conversation with a neighbour who has a pedigree Labrador. I asked her if she went to West Park. She said she didn't as she said she didn't want to expose her animal to the diseases harboured at West Park!
Well, can you believe that! A park designed for human recreation is deemed too unhealthy for DOGS! It's a strange world dog ownership! I'll never understand!!

I hate dog owners!
You know what I did last weekend? Well I had a walk on Goole riverbank and got covered in mud!! Not intentionally of course...oh no! But thanks to another inconsiderate dog owner. Imagine it...waking up Sunday, sun shining, got changed in to clean clothes for a nice brisk early morning walk along the banks of the river Ouse. So there I was minding my own business when I noticed a Boarder Collie and owner walking towards me from some distance. The dog was not on a lead and decided to make a charge for me.....jumped up ( as dogs do) and covered my nice clean jacket in sticky mud! Well, I went berserk at the stupid animal. The owner came over and said that I should not talk to her dog in such an aggressive manner. Never mind that my early morning walk had been ruined. Then she said that if I didn't like dogs, I shouldn,t be on the riverbank!! I did ask the lady if she was prepared to have my jacket dry cleaned.....suddenly on that nice winter morning the air turned blue!!! God bless dog owners, they are a breed apart!!!
