Terrific Support!!!

We have had a terrific response to this local campaign, with people from across the planet hitting the www.brentwood-avenue.co.uk site.

How on earth can anyone consider taking away a view like this?:

If you really want to protect areas like this within the Peak District National Park - log on to the the website and get involved, leave a comment, download the petition and join the forum.

Wow New Members Galore!

In a way it is sad that adversity should be the thing that brings a community together.  But with the case of the latest development application on Brentwood Avenue, Bamford, this is the case.  There are many who have signed the petition and shown a real interest in stopping the development.

There is an augment that many may be supporting the opposition because they are simply ‘feathering their own nest’ by trying to secure the value on their own property.  But as many of the supporters come from ‘Social Housing’ this is just not the case.

People have a real concern for this small piece of land and over the chance of further development in the future.  People want to maintain the size of villages and halt the ever increasing demand to eat up precious ‘Green Field’ sites.

I recently asked an overseas friend what their view was of the plans.  She, as a business lecturer, was some what surprised that people would be located in such an area.  At a time when we are all meant to be controlling our carbon footprints, this scheme actually increases it.  Not only in the delivery of building materials to site but the increased commuting distance (and fuel consumption) associated with being at least 10 miles from the nearest source of sustainable employment.

If you have a real interest in this issue please comment or better still join the Hope Valley Forum.  Even better leave your comments on the http://www.brentwood-avenue.co.uk site.

Thanks to all those who have already had a look at the website.  We are now really starting to gather momentum with the opposition document having been submitted.  We now have the time until a earing (possibly September but probably October) to put together a strong desfense against this development going ahead.

www.brentwood-avenue.co.uk

At last the www.brentwood-avenue.co.uk site is now live!

Please log on and support this opposition to the development of a Geen Field site in Bamford.

You may think this is just a small plot of land and that housing is required.  However, if you read the opposition document you will see that alternative 'brown field' sites are available locally that could be used instead.

Both sides of the aurgument have been presented on the site but you can download a petition to sign and send in if you support the opposition of the plan.

Brentwood Avenue

We are literally hours away from the launch of www.brentwood-avenue.co.uk

A website dedicated to the protection of a green field site in the Peak District and most importantly the Hope Valley.

As soon as the site is up and running we'll let you know!

You will be pleased to hear that there is now a growing group opposed to the development mentioned below.  Although possibly a little premature I can say that there will soon be a site where interested individuals can find out all the details and send in their comments.

There is little doubt that there is a need for "affordable housing", however this shouldn't be at the cost of our environment.  The Peak District National Park is a National treaure and as such should be left for all to enjoy without having whole chunks of it flattened by developments.

Log into the forum to have your say.  If you do find you can't get on please contact me via info@hopevalleyderbyshire.co.uk and I can alwasy point you in the right direction.
