Morgan's World My Poetry

Through A Child's Eyes
A Reflection of my parents:

FATHER

You were my hero
I loved you with my life
But I never understood
That woman, your wife

I thought you as a victim
So sad and abused
But you also hurt
The woman you accused

As time went on
I began to see
What was really happening
And how it affected me

I used to pray
That just ONCE you'd be strong
And that you would fix
All that was wrong

Until I realized
You were also the cause
But you never admitted
For you loved the applause

No matter how false
You needed the attention
And so conveniently
You forgot to mention

That you were accountable
And had a part in this all
It was your fault too
That our world began to fall

When you look in a mirror
I wonder what you see
A coward holding hostage
A little girl like me?

To this day
You can't make it right
But in my heart
I've stopped the fight

My energy is required
For my children you see
Cuz I'm here for them
When they need me

So I accept what is
And continue with my life
Living in peace & love
And no internal strife

For that's the way
It's supposed to be
Sad you weren't able
To teach that to me

MOTHER:

So cruel and hurtful
Obnoxious and loud
For someone like you
I could never feel proud

I used to ask God
Why he gave me to you
He never answered
But I knew what to do

I had to grow up
Could feel it in my core
To be a different person
And want something more

Like a life with some meaning
And to myself be true
And at all costs avoid
Ever being like you

You robbed a child
Of trust, love & hope
And without those qualities
It's so hard to cope

It's the sound of your voice
That I hate most
The sarcastic pitch -
"have a drink; let's toast"

You were so beautiful
To one looking in
But inside your heart
An unmentionable sin

Not a punishment to suit
All you have done
Did you even realize
It wasn't all fun?

But of course you did
That's why the rum
Yet for me an existence
With a heart that was numb

I remember always
A drink in your hand
I just wanted you
And I didn't understand

But the good part of life
Is that as we grow
We continue to learn
And in my heart I know

That it wasn't personal
You had your own pain
You couldn't cope
Nor from the drink refrain

It cost you so much
See, you've lost it all
It's too late to fix
For that order's too tall

You'll have to deal
With your God above
And luckily for me
My heart's filled with love

For I treasure the gifts
That have been given to me
And love & respect
Is what I want them to see

So without you
The way you were
Would I be me?
I'm really not sure

But I learned what I had to
And for that I am glad
Now this is just a story
And no longer sad

Poetry

THE LOVED ONE

Millions of people
In a world so vast
Can't imagine being lonely
With just memories of the past

But for countless people
It's their way of life
For circumstance has stolen
Many a husband or a wife

It's a vision you can't
Hold onto in your head
How's this even possible
Heaven is now homestead?

Everything for a reason
That's what they say
But no point of logic
Seems to make this OK

Only time will help
To sort what you feel
And what you'll be left with
Is the life that is real

For it is happening
In the here and now
Your loved ones will be waiting
And you must make the vow

To never forget but
To continue to live
Share your love with them
And to you they will give

All the strength & support
And love that you need
To continue your time here
from them you must feed

It's the Circle Of Life
And we each keep going
Where to and for how long
None of us knowing

Except that one day
When it all comes to end
We'll meet up together
With those we called friend

LES MOTS

You can't take back
Hurtful words you've said
And to the person you've spoken
Those words feel like lead

No matter how right
Or wrong the words shared
A choice and a consequence
Are always what's paired

You can feel sorry
And have much regret
But for the person receiving
They'll never forget

You must be careful
And choose your words well
For it's usually to a loved one
Hurtful words you will tell

When you feel words coming
You must give them a miss
Instead try an embrace
Or a passionate kiss

Kind words feel gentle
And give warmth it's true
So the try the kindest words ever
They are - I LOVE YOU!

Poetry
BENEVOLENT STRANGERS

No matter how different
We're really the same
Various look & colours
But just people with a name

You'd think in a world
Where together we share
Our beginnings and end
That all would be fair?

Why do some suffer
With no-one to protect?
And others live freely
With so much they forget

That humans are starving
They're neglected & abused
How does this happen
That they are just refused?

The right to a life
That the rest have so good
Who determines who gets what
With necessities such as food?

Because lots of people never
Enjoy a proper meal
With no home, food or clothing
We can't imagine how they feel

Why is it acceptable
for genocide today?
After Hitler's Europe
It should never be that way

Why all the disease
And children dying of aids?
Are we meant to just live our lives
And hope the background fades?

Lots of people helping
Yet things remain the same
Is this something we can fix
Or generations continue to blame?

Many unanswered questions
We all live with the fear
Of not knowing what will happen
After our bodies depart from here

So we are the same
The makings of you and me
And how we travel thru this life
Now that will be the key

To unlock the door of truth
And discover our own fate
So live with all your heart and soul
For those answers, we must wait

Poetry
PaTcHwOrK

You always helped to ensure
This day would finally arrive
Only now you're in a panic
How will you ever survive?

She's finally had the courage
For what she's always said
But you're not ready to admit
That you're no longer wed

Many chances to make it right
And now it's just too late
Place the blame - but really...
You helped in your own fate!

The consequence was massive
Just too much to admit
So you chose to be the victim
A position where you still sit

It's with yourself you're angry
But at all costs she must pay
The only victims are your children
With the actions and words you say

You only have control
Over what you say and do
And how you make your children feel
Is entirely up to you

It's at this time
You must make your choice
What kind of man? What kind of words?
And most important what kind of voice?

Daddies should make a difference
Their relationship need not end
Love your children and respect them
And just maybe, that bond you will mend!

The Senses Of War
If you LOOK very closely
You will SEE the sound of war
It's the fear and hatred
Of a child's most inner core

If you LISTEN very closely
You will HEAR the sound of war
It's the deafening silence of bloodshed
And killing about to soar

If you SPEAK very closely
You will SAY the sound of war
Prejudice towards people
And their religion you deplore

If you SMELL very closely
You will BREATHE the sound of war
It's the gunshot residue and body
Where the bullets did explore

If you TOUCH very closely
You will FEEL the sound of war
It's the breaking of a heart
For a loved one's life no more

For how long must we live the senses of war?

Poem
SECOND BEST

To love a man
Who has a wife
Is self-destructive
And ruins your life

You're cheating yourself
But this you know
So why let the love
Continue to grow?

Why give away
Yourself to him
When in the end
You know you can't win?

It's easy to know
Wrong from right
But you love who you love
And you want HIM at night

It feels so cruel
The irony of it all
But life without him
Would be void and null

He wants to leave her
But for the kids' sake
He'll stay and pretend
It's a choice he can't make

You're always a second
To his children and wife
And you live only half
To his whole life

Love should feel perfect
Not lonely with pain
From what you've created
You've nothing to gain

Start thinking of yourself
You deserve so much more
This isn't a loss
But a chance to soar

It may take some time
To find your soulmate
But good things will happen
To those who wait

You must give your love
To the special man who
Can give all himself
And his love to you

So find the one
Who completes your life
And to the man you love
You'll be the wife

Poem
To:  The World's Best Kids - Robert & Adriana

I LOVE YOU MORE THAN ALL THE STARS IN THE SKY

My Children

If you're blessed
In this life you will find
The love of a child
It's the purest kind

For children love freely
No boundaries they hold
And the adults around them
Are the ones that they mould

They mimic your laugh
And funny old ways
It makes you think back
To your childhood days

The joy that they give
Compares to nothing I know
It's the most wonderful gift
To be watching them grow

Give them support
And the love that they need
For healthy young adults
You'll have planted the seed

Don't crush their dreams
Always teach them to know
That they can be anything
Wherever they go

Give them a chance
To find their true self
It's not about you, what they
'should' be, or wealth

Before too long
They'll be grown ups too
And your life's dedication
Where's it leave you?

Not needed as much
But you'll still be there
And all the love and the joy
For their life you will share

Love you forever,
Mommy
