Exciting News from Leamington Peace Festival
The Leamington Peace Festival on 13-14 June is approaching fast and we have a lot of exciting news coming your way… On 5th June a Battle of the Bands competition will determine which local act opens the festival. Due to an overwhelming amount of local talent combined with our desire to nurture a thriving music scene, this will be a fantastic way to kick- start the festival fever!
And hot of the press we are very proud to announce the presence of a Solar Cinema at the Peace Festival for the first time ever. The cinema will be housed in a large geodome built by members of the Canalside Community Food Project. Constructed of locally sourced recycled and renewable materials the power for the cinema and sound system will come from both solar panels and a wind turbine. The popular new film ‘Age of Stupid’ starring Pete Postlethwaite will be screening on both days, so look out for updates and get to the cinema early to secure your seat!
As a FREE festival, we need a lot of help and we are now looking for enthusiastic people to volunteer at the weekend. The main aim of the day is to ensure everything flows properly and most importantly that people are having fun. This is a great way to help out in a unique community event, meet new people and really get your hands dirty. If you are interested email info@peacefestival.org.uk or phone 0845 3884207 before 1st June and we will send you further information.
