Mode on the road with Sequoia
DEPECHE MODE have recorded all concerts on the current "Tour of the Universe 2009 / 2010" with Sequoia.
So far the software has been used during more than 70 concerts in Europe, the USA and Latin America.
For each performance, a total of 64 tracks are recorded using an RME MADI card on a PC from Digital AudionetworX, Berlin.
Most live concert recordings may be purchased online on the band website. Some of the recordings have also been used for radio and TV broadcasts.
Anthony King, the Depeche Mode live sound engineer, created the mixes completely in Sequoia.
King is also responsible for the recording during concerts: "The combination of RME, the Digital AudionetworX PC, and Sequoia has proved to be extremely stable and reliable. It is sometimes impossible to pay much attention to a recording system, especially in a live situation. For this reason, it is even more important that the software works without glitches and may be configured quickly. We are very pleased with the results."
Sequoia is a High Definition Digital Audio Software package for the PC, specialised for Media and Post-Production, Broadcast, and Mastering areas.
The software covers all tasks involved in professional studio work, from recording via convenient 4-point editing, mixing, mastering, and CD burning in the Red Book standard.
The burning process takes place directly from within the multi-track project and includes all effects, plug-ins, crossfades, and cuts. No intermediate steps are required, and there is no bouncing, no waiting time, and no memory loss in between.
Sequoia has been an integral part of leading broadcast and mastering studios worldwide, including German public broadcasters WDR, MDR, and SWR, the Vienna Symphonic Library, and Sterling Sound in New York.

IT'S always great to hear vocal samples in top quality and this collection from Zero G is just that - as clear as crystal.
Fair enough, other places, such as VipZone, have some top-notch vox courtesy of Kate Lesing but those Polish gems are aimed mainly at the trance and club genre.
