Want some? It was meant to be a ramble about technology, now it's just a ramble.

The Future
"You've just a got a computer, why don't you embrace this technology to the full and do a blog? There's normally something happening in your life."

Well is true, I have just got a pc and all the stuff that comes with it.The waiting around all day for it to be
delievered, which it then doesn't, phoning the company after 6pm only to find that they keep office hours for this type of thing.Although they would have been happy to sell me some more stuff at that time. Having finally tracked down the the damned thing, I decided once it was up and running to fire off a letter of compliant as after all delivery shouldn't have to included me trailing round a shabby industrial park on a Saturday and then missing most of SoccerAM, including Barry Proudfoot. I had the wording in my head, all I need to do was type it up and print it off. This proved to be harder then imagined as the printer that was sent with the pc was missing a small yet vital piece of equipment, a USB cable. For those of you with lives, it links the printer to the box and enables printing to be done. This would appear to be standard practice in the computer world. The best analogy I can think of is buying a car only to find that the steering wheel needs to be purchased separately at a location several miles away that is only accessable via motor vehicle.
As is normally the case in situations like this I ended up getting several off a bloke at work, "You can never have too many of these mate" and how right he was proved when I was contacted just after noon on Boxing Day by one of my friends requesting an emergency USB cable. Computer and printer companies get it sorted!!

I'll get round to describing my xmas shenanigans next time. It might be that blogging is the future, everyone can have a rant, get stuff off their chest and then settle down with a warm milk drink.

Our National Day

Well, I'll start with an update from last week.A new telly has been purchased (online) and delivered. It just needs to be set up. That might well be my Friday night treat. Yer, rock 'n' roll. There's no point in rushing though as the stand, ordered from a different place, isn't here yet. I'm sure it will all look lovely once its in place.

All this means I  will again be unable to attend the celebration of our national day. I mean why leave the house when I've got a new tv to watch. Loose Women on widescreen? Bring it on.

More importantly The Ashes start next Wednesday, which I'm looking forward to. That's my week off sorted already.

Rough

I attended the alternative music night held at the Courthouse last night and its fair to say that this morning I felt unwell. It must be the price I have to pay for getting on in years. At a time I would normally be heading off to bed I was still throwing pints down my neck. Or it might have been the cider. I'm normally a bitter drinker but that doesn't do it for me in warm weather and sometimes I switch to lager but I didn't fancy that either so pints of cider were ordered first thing. Very refreshing though.

Last week's Sky problems seemed to have disappeared, well it worked fine on both Tuesday and Wednesday but it has led me to  reconsider my whole visual package. A new flatscreen telly will soon be purchased and I think a hard disc recorder will be hot on it's heals. I was thinking about Sky+ but their box only has 40 hours of memory and some others have a lot more. More investiagtion of the matter is needed.

Dish Dashed

I've been having a bit of trouble with my Sky tv this week so I phoned their Help Centre and ended up speaking to a guy who knew less about restoring the picture than me. He offered to send round an engineer at the cost of £65 and when I declined that because I thought he'd unable to take down my card details correctly he became quite upset. I only want to watch gritty US cop shows, I don't need grief about it.

Anyway on a happier note, a good friend and fellow Buffoon is starting an alternative music night at the Courthouse bar complex from next Thurdays, 25th June. I'll be popping along to offer support but I hope it's not full of emo kids looking thin and pastey as I'll feel very out of place.

TT BBQ

The weather is almost set for a TT BBQ. Cloudy. Still its not been a bad week. Racing got underway eventually and from the tv coverage on ITV4 looks to have been top quality. Beer tent action has been enjoyed. The place has been a bit quiet this year, this is probably due to there being no entertainment down there. It needed a change as the previous years of Steve Colley riding over a rock had all blurred into one but not putting anything on wasn't the way forward. Everyone seemed to enjoy Whitesnake if not Quill (who are they?).

Same place next year?

TT Weather

After a glorious week with the sun cracking the flags and difficulty sleeping because of the heat the weather has turned for the worst. Its already gone a bit nippy today and the forecast for the next few days is light showers at best.

Lets hope they get Saturday's races off and it dries out for my trip to Bushy's beer tent later in the day.

Just A Quicky

I seemed to produce so many blogs over the TT period last year, I just thought I better pop out a quicky so that you the reader isn't disappointed.

There's not much to report yet. I strolled down to the Bushy's tent last night just to see what's happening and bumped into a couple of mates. Apart from that its passing me by at the moment. There's no work BBQ this year as the sight of fat cat bankers stuffing our faces might not go down to well in the current economic climate.

Bring on Golden Earring's Radar Love and a badly cooked burger then I'll know it's really the TT.

Chilli Sauce; Garlic Sauce?

Will be the cry along The Terrace these days. A new takeaway has opened. A kebab shop. It not as if we don't have enough already. A chippy, a Chinese & an Indian all within 2 minutes of my house. If I feel like something different a kebab shop is situated down on Bucks Road, possibly 5 minutes away. They also do pizzas so does that count as another food of the world?

With all this going on I'm not sure why I even have an oven. I could dine out on the finest foods of the world for 5 days a week, stick in a roast on Sunday and thats it all covered off. After all those calaries a day of fasting a week would be needed anyway, although I'm sure the Thai place just down from the original kebab house would do me something to go if I asked.

Never mind just my oven, does anyone cook anymore? The rise of the takeaway coincides with the decline of the small shop. Less and less of us pop to the local butcher or greengrocer to get something for tea which is a shame as simple home cooked food can't be bettered.

Still no doubt I'll be popping into the new place as they offer a chicken donner; something I've not tried yet.
