Sport for all???
While I whole-heartedly congratulate "the Posh" on their achievement this season,I have to question whether the promotion of a third string football team to the second string is really a matter for such media saturation as has been seen over the last week or so.
It never ceases to amaze and bemuse me that such hysteria surrounds a game where 22 grown men chase a bag of wind around a field.
Given the recent accolades earned by Peterborough's other major sports teams,the Panthers(speedway) and Phantoms(Ice Hockey),Peterborough United's achievement seems to have been blown completely out of proportion given that both the Panthers 2006 Elite League championship and the recent success of the Phantoms Knock Out Cup win(Ice Hockeys equivalent of football's League Cup)almost seemed to have slipped by almost unnoticed by much of the local media.
Both the Panthers and Phantoms have riders/players of international standard who have represented their respective countries on numerous occasions.
Come on,sports fans of Peterborough....there's more than one team in this city!Take off your blinkers and get down to the Showground and Planet Ice....show some support for all Peterborough's achievers!
