Ilegal Charges by STAR Computer at Rugby, Warwicks
I would like some advise on dealing with ilegal charges by Cowboy Traders such as STAR Computer at Rugby, Warwickshire......
I bought a computer wireless card from STAR Computer (address: 94 Lower Hillmorton Road, Rugby)three days ago. However later I found that my laptop had already got a built-in wireless card. So I went to return the card (which was never used) to STAR computer today, but was told that they will charge a fee for refund or they will not accept the goods back. Since I wasn't aware of this fee for refund when I bought the card, I asked where did they state this refund policy (I couldn't see it anywhere in the shop). I also told the shop owner that my understanding of the sale's act is that a customer is entitled to return the goods/or cancel the services he or she purchased within a time limit. At this point, this Indian shop keeper turned nasty and told me that he didn't need a customer like me and asked me to pxxx off.
Without a return policy statement that a customer can see at the shop, can this owner charge a customer for returning an un-used good (within 3 days)at his will ? Was he breaking the law (sale's act) by charging a customer the fee that he or she wasn't aware of ? I would like to report him to the police if he did break the law. Thank you very much for your help.
